Scholarship Program

Are you pursuing project management studies or looking for support toward a PMI certification? We’re excited to announce that the PMI Charleston Chapter 2026 Scholarship is now accepting applications! We look forward to reviewing your submissions and supporting the next generation of project leaders in the Charleston region.
Scholarship Program
Two $1000 scholarship will be offered to a student in an undergraduate or graduate program. The Board reserves the right to offer the scholarships to one student, or to no student, based upon the quality of the applications.
- Scholarships will be offered to students in the following types of programs:
a. Project management programs,
b. Business management programs with a focus in project management,
c. Management science programs with a focus in project management,
d. Other types of degree programs which emphasize project management. - Participation is open to degree-seeking students who are full-time residents in the Tri-county area (Charleston, Berkeley, and Dorchester counties) and are currently enrolled in a degree program at an accredited college or university.
- The student must have declared their major/concentration in the academic program.
- The project management component of the academic program must be identified by the accredited organization as a major, minor, or concentration.
- The project management component of the academic program must align with the Project Management Body of Knowledge.
Eligibility Requirements
Eligibility for scholarship award will be based upon the following criteria:
- Individual submission of scholarship application.
- A short, personal essay written by the student that addresses:
a. Why project management is important in the student’s industry or desired industry,
b. how this academic program has helped the student learn more about project management,
c. why the student has chosen this field of study, and
d. discussion of a major issue facing the student’s current or desired industry and how project management can address the issue - Updated professional resume or CV.
- Grade point average at or above 3.0. The most recent transcript must be included with the scholarship application. Original, unofficial transcripts are acceptable.
- Ability to attend the scholarship presentation during the 2026 Engineers Week Banquet. The event will be held on February 17, 2026 at 6pm in The Citadel's Buyer Auditorium.
Award Criteria & Schedule
Criteria for evaluation of application and award of scholarship will include, at a minimum:
- Essay (50%)
- Resume or CV (20%)
- GPA (20%)
- Involvement with PMI Charleston, SC (10%)
Schedule to provide scholarship funds to recipients:
- Distribute scholarship materials: November 10
- Scholarship application window: November 13 - January 14
- Select award recipients: January 29
- Present awards: February 17*
*Scholarship recipients must be present at the 2026 Engineers Week Banquet to accept their award.
