Speaker: Dan Furlong, DHA, PMP

You probably heard that PMI has published the PMBOK, 6th edition, and that as of March 26, 2018 it becomes our official Guild to the Project Management Body of Knowledge. This means that as of March 26, 2018, anyone who takes the PMP or CAPM exam will be taking it based on the 6th edition.

So if you are already a PMP, why do you care?

You care because passing the PMP exam is only the first step in your journey to be a better project manager. You need to continue down the path by continuously improving your skills, tools, and techniques that you have in your personal PM toolkit. Part of that growth is understanding how project management has changed over the past four years, and that is captured through the edits made in the PMBOK, 6th edition.

What if you are not a PMP already?

Well, of course you care because if you want to keep up with what you will be tested on one day, you need to see what is included in the new PMBOK, 6th edition!

Either way, come enjoy this interactive session where we will talk about the good, the bad, and the ugly changes to the PMBOK, 6th edition.

And, just like we did with the 5th edition session, those in attendance will get cold, hard cash for answering questions about the PMBOK and project management! We have $200 to give away....how much will you take home?

We will also spend a bit of time talking about ProjectManagement.com, the PMI Global Congress, and other ways of learning more about project management.

Please note:The early bird pricing ends on Monday, February 12 at noon!

About Dan Furlong

Dan currently serves in the PMO for the Medical University of SC; he also owns PM One, a local Project Management training provider (www.pmone.net), and serves as Adjunct Faculty at MUSC and Affiliated Faculty at the College of Charleston. Dan has served on PMI Charleston or PMI Community of Practice boards since 2005 and feels giving back to the profession is an obligation to be shared by all. He is sometimes referred to as a PM evangelist, where he strongly advocates “getting back to the basics”, and is a regular speaker at international conferences and universities. In 2013 Dan co-authored the leading text on Healthcare Project Management and published a PMP Prep quick reference guide (“PMP Exam Last Chance Review”).

Dan holds a BS in Computer Science, a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA), and is working on his dissertation to complete his doctorate degree in Healthcare Administration. He is married to his college sweetheart and has three boys, each of whom appear to be following in their parents’ footsteps of computer science and project management.
