Join us on Thursday, October 18 to hear Katie Blomquist speak on her non-profit organization and then participate in faciliated break-out sessions to help develop options for improving the organization's processes.

About the Non-Profit

Katie runs a non-profit organization that provides Joy to disadvantaged kids. They do this through several programs, but the largest is their "give a bike. give joy" program where they donate a bike to EVERY child in titled 1 elementary schools. During this exciting presentation, you will learn the roots that formed this non-profit organization and participate in an exercise to form an ongoing opportunity for PMI Charleston members to give back their community. Katie will present a video of her nonprofit and then conduct facilitated break-out sessions for attendees to develop high-level options for improving the organizations' processes.

About Katie Blomquist

Katie originally grew up in Los Angeles, California. She started her career in marketing while living in Chicago before realizing she felt a desire to go into a career aimed at making a difference in people’s lives. She then received her Masters in Elementary Education and then moved to Charleston where she has been teaching in Title-1 schools for six years. In 2016, Katie began a GoFundMe raising over $80,000 and bought all 650 students in her school a new bike, lock, and helmet. Because of the tremendous success of that campaign and her passion for the title 1 community, Katie made the difficult decision to leave teaching and further this work on a much larger scale but creating Going Places where she can impact hundreds of thousands of kids.
