Join us on Thursday, August 16 to hear Kent Weikel speak on Using Project Management to Develop and Strengthen an Organization!

Using Project Management to Develop and Strengthen an Organization

Leading a Cub Scout Pack or a Boy Scout Troop takes  patience, love, and a sense of adventure. But, annual planning, risk analysis, human resources, and communication are key to the success of any scouting organization, and many organizations struggle with stability as scouts grow and leadership experience ages out.  Starting a new Scout Troop brings an even greater challenge as resources are low, expectations are high, and the existence of organizational process assets is limited to what can be gleaned from other successful Troops and the District Council. Kent will discuss how he continually applies PMI concepts to the development and strengthening of Boy Scout Troop 31 in West Ashley.

About Kent Weikel

Kent has been the Health Systems Infrastructure Integrated Product Team Lead at Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center Atlantic since 2007.  This IPT executes a triennial technical refresh of the LAN and Wireless LAN components for 138 Military Hospitals worldwide at an annual budget of $37M. Kent has also participated as deputy program manager for a similar worldwide virtual project team from 1998-2003 in support of the US Department of State and has traveled extensively to 46 states and 40 countries. Kent was nominated for IPT lead of the year at SPAWAR Atlantic in 2017.
